What I do
At 20, I bought a VHS video camera and never stopped filming interesting things in the two places where I lived (Salinas- CA, and Montevideo).

In true “do-it-yourself” way, I kept filming nonstop until I moved into the digital format, with a MiniDV video camera with which I made my documentary "Perejiles".

Working for many years at a public TV channel helped me improve professionally.

In Barcelona, I experimented with a GoPro camera and also with Facebook Live, producing Yo, Periodista (Low-Cost Journalism) and covering curiosities and cultural activities.

The coronavirus pulled me out of Barcelona and brought me to Berlin, which is a fascinating city and very inspiring for new professional opportunities.
Mr Berlin Party at MauerPark.

With a repertoire that mixes classics with current hits, he brings all the vibe — because doing this around these parts, where emotional expressiveness runs low, is basically starting a revolution.

Luckily, he created an Instagram account, and after seeing his numbers on TikTok, I finally got it: he’s a megastar.

This Polish veteran is a performance genius.

It’s the second time I’ve seen him, and having a one-on-one with him this time was sublime.

“He’s not a dog, he’s this city’s cultural critic,” he said, referring to his canine companion.

Berlin has a wild fascination that far surpasses Barcelona. That bridge called Admiralbrücke is a little gem in the Kreuzberg neighborhood.

It’s a great meeting point to enjoy a beautiful human landscape and all its colorful characters.

Spectacular event on Straße des 17. Juni between the Brandenburg Gate and the exuberant Siegessäule.

300,000 people attended “Rave the Planet.”

Based on the book “A Black Sheep in Power: Confessions and Intimacies of Pepe Mujica” by Andrés Danza and Ernesto Tulbovitz.

On Barcelona’s public transportation, I quote some of Pepe Mujica’s phrases verbatim and offer passengers stickers of the “world’s poorest president.”

They call me Argentinian.

A Uruguayan sits at the same table and forms a self-help group with someone from Belgium, Switzerland, and Austria.

Since whenever we speak, they obviously associate us with the biggest or most populated country (Argentina, France, and Germany).

Thank you, Argentine brothers, for loving us so much and (sometimes) when we don’t deserve it.

Yo, Periodista

Reporting from one of the most iconic sights on the planet: the Eiffel Tower.

The number of selfies taken per square meter is astonishing—so much so that you can practically smell the ‘selfies’ in the air.

Yo, Periodista (Low-Cost Journalism).

Experimenting with Facebook Live from Barcelona's Rambla.

I meet a friendly group of southern Italians, more precisely from Crotone.

Monkeys coexist within Thai society and benefit from tourism as well.

A lot of déjà vu from southern Brazil, not only because of the friendly monkeys, but also because of the nature and the beautifully rustic feel of many places.

Koh Lanta Yai (south).

Soundtrack Peter Gabriel "Shock the monkey 1982".

Walking through Barcelona and suddenly having 10 Senegalese guys appear singing in the street was reason enough to turn on the GoPro and follow them the whole way, until I ended up singing with them in the rain (the last part isn’t recorded because my battery died — and also because I wanted to join them).

Without a doubt, AFRICANS INVENTED JOY… EVERYTHING STARTED IN AFRICA.

In Barcelona, I always felt admiration and fascination for the Spanish “yayos” (Grandparents).

I had never seen older people with such a complete lack of complaints and such intense enjoyment of life as those in the Mediterranean.

Magdalena visits us every day at Bar Piadina Princesa to have her one-fifth of an Estrella Galicia.

She doesn’t touch her pension at all, since everything she consumes is financed by Barcelona’s tourists.

Taking advantage of the global lockdown, I did a serie with Uruguayans (90 in total) living in different parts of the world.

The serie consisted of 8 questions, the same for every interviewer:

How long have you been living outside Uruguay / What did you do in Uruguay and what do you do now?.

What does it mean to you to leave Uruguay and take some distance from "El paisito"?.

What aspects of being Uruguayan do you keep because you think they’re good and worth having in your day-to-day life, and which aspects of being Uruguayan have you buried because you’re not into them at all or they embarrass you?.

What do you appreciate about Uruguay when you’re living abroad?.

Have you ever run into a tourist or a foreigner living in Uruguay and thought: “What the hell are you doing here?”.

What was it like for you to go back to Uruguay for the first time after living abroad for a good while — that unique, one-of-a-kind experience?
What did you feel, how did you experience it, what surprised you?.

In the song Los Olímpicos by Jaime Roos, there’s a part that says, “Extraña la gente nuestra que te habla sin despreciar.” What do you think went through Jaime Roos’ mind, or what situation do you think he lived through, to write that?.

What do you think about the fact that Uruguay has “Nostalgia Night”? Are you nostalgic?.

Song:  "Mundo" from "El Gavilán" (Album: "Fuera de Moda" 2019 - Bizarro Records).

Coronavirus in Barcelona

Her name is Aurea, she is 89 years old.

Every day at 8 p.m. in Barcelona and throughout Spain, we go out to honor the Public Healthcare System with a loud round of applause from our apartment balconies.

She is flawless and the standout on my street.

In the context of the Uruguayan press, there is a group of people known as Parsleys (Perejiles), who usually attend launches, inaugurations, and all kinds of events in order to enjoy the hors d’oeuvres and lunches offered there.

Under a “supposed journalist credential,” their presence goes unnoticed by most of the people who attend these events—except for the press teams made up of reporters, cameramen, and drivers/assistants, who clearly recognize them and generally feel a sense of rejection toward them.

The documentary Parsleys seeks to reveal a side of the press world that is largely unknown. By the end of the film, the protagonists share their point of view and present themselves as journalists with extensive experience.

Parsleys: “The Uruguayan documentary that walks on the opposite sidewalk.”

His name is Washington, he is from Atlantida, and he is often seen walking along the Interbalnearia highway carrying the British flag.

He has a brother named Winston Churchill.
He doesn't care at all what Argentinians think when they see him.

A group of young surfers from Uruguay's Costa de Oro, disappointed by the lack of waves, decide to invent a new extreme sport:

Climbing an acacia tree, cutting it down with a chainsaw, and falling into a ravine.
